TRIP SUMMARY
We will collect you from your Cape Town Hotel to be transferred to Gansbaai. The price includes breakfast that we serve before the boat launch.
Before the trip, you will get a brief introductory talk about the route and what to look out for. You will also get a comfortable inflatable life-jacket. The launch is usually around 08:30, arriving at the anchoring spot in 20 to 25 minutes. Then we lower the anchor and the cage goes into the water. The crew makes a scent trail and then you settle down. This is when we make final preparations for the diving and you will spend the rest of the day watching, diving and enjoying.
The small settlement of Gansbaai was formerly famous as a fishing village, but is now renowned as one of the few places in South Africa – and worldwide – where you can go cage diving with the ocean’s most formidable predators, Great White Sharks. Vessels leave from Gansbaai’s Kleinbaai Harbor, traveling for roughly 20 minutes to a deep gully running between two islands where countless seals live. Seals are the Great White’s favorite food source. As a result, the channel, appropriately dubbed ‘Shark Alley’, attracts high numbers of Great Whites and offers excellent viewing of these usually elusive animals.
Children under 12 years can go on the boat but not in the cage.
We will also provide a transfer back to Cape Town.
