Itinerary Breakdown
Day 1
Hotel, Arusha
Arusha
Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to Arusha, a gateway town at the base of Mount Meru and the starting point for Northern Circuit safaris. Settle in, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the journey ahead.
Day 2
Lodge, Lake Manyara
Lake Manyara National Park
Travel to Lake Manyara, a compact park known for its groundwater forests, open plains, and alkaline lake. After lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive with chances to spot tree-climbing lions, large flocks of flamingos, and a variety of wildlife and birdlife across diverse habitats.
Day 3
Luxury Tented Camp, Serengeti
Serengeti National Park
Continue to the Serengeti, Tanzania’s most famous national park, known for its vast plains and abundant wildlife. After lunch, head out on an afternoon game drive to begin exploring this iconic ecosystem.
Day 4
Luxury Tented Camp, Serengeti
Serengeti National Park
Spend a full day on game drives across the Serengeti, with a picnic lunch in the bush. This region holds one of the largest concentrations of wildlife in Africa, with millions of plains animals and around 500 bird species. Expect excellent opportunities to observe predator activity, including lions, cheetahs, and other hunters, set against vast open landscapes.
Day 5
Lodge or Camp, Ngorongoro Area
Serengeti to Ngorongoro
Begin the day with a morning game drive in the Serengeti. After lunch, depart for the Ngorongoro area, stopping at Olduvai Gorge, an important archaeological site where some of the earliest human remains, dating back approximately 3.5 million years, were discovered. Continue to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 6
Lodge, Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full day of game viewing. This vast volcanic caldera is known for its high concentration of wildlife, including strong chances to see the Big Five. Drive through dense forest and across open plains near the soda lake, with opportunities to observe a variety of birdlife. Enjoy a picnic lunch before ascending from the crater floor, approximately 2,000 feet below, back to your lodge.
Day 7
Lodge, Tarangire
Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park. Enjoy lunch at your lodge before heading out for an afternoon game drive. During the dry season, Tarangire offers a high concentration of wildlife as migratory species gather around the permanent waters of the Tarangire River. Large herds of wildebeest, zebra, elephants, eland, and oryx can often be seen before dispersing again with the onset of the rains. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 8
Tarangire – Arusha – Kilimanjaro International Airport
No overnight
After breakfast, enjoy a short game drive in Tarangire National Park for a final look at the wildlife. Return to Arusha for lunch before transferring to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your international departure.
