Day 1

Cape Town, Winchester Mansions

Cape Peninsular

  • Ride up the “Flying Dutchman” to the lighthouse
  • Visit to the Penguins at Boulders beach
  • Dinner

After breakfast, the day is spent enjoying and exploring the Cape Peninsular. Guests enjoy a ride up the “Flying Dutchman” to the lighthouse on Cape Point and then enjoy a short hike to the point. This is where Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet and the most Southern point on the African continent! A must see.
Guests also enjoy a visit to the Penguins at Boulders beach and a few of Cape Town numerous landmarks.
Guests then return to the hotel to freshen up before departing for their dinner (included –venue TBA)

Day 3

Friday, August 24, 2018 (optional pre-trip)

Table Mountain and Winelands

After breakfast, depart for Table Mountain to take a ride up the cableway to enjoy the best views of the city. Then our private coach will take us to the Winelands region in Constantia for wine tastings (included) before returning to Cape Town for our dinner and show at Richard’s Supper Stage & Bistro.

A trip up Table Mountain is quite rightly one of the first things a tourist wants to do when arriving in Cape Town. Once on the top, a 1000m above the city below, you are rewarded with spectacular 360 views. Take your time and enjoy this unique environment, go for a walk or have a bit to eat at the restaurant with arguably one of the best views possible.

Constantia Winelands

The oldest wine region in South Africa, Constantia’s wine estates are famed for their award-winning wines.
Richard’s Supper Stage & Bistro, Richard’s Supper Stage offer’s something different to any other restaurant here in Cape Town, or even in the Country. “Kaapse Stories from the Mother City” is a dinner show offering the visitor to the Cape an authentic cultural and culinary experience of what the people of the Cape and the “Rainbow Nation” has to offer.

Day 4

Durban

Full day of sightseeing in Durban

After breakfast, depart for a full day of sightseeing in Durban.
Durban is a multicultural city with plenty of attractions most of which are focused around the beach and the harbor. The Marine Parade now connects the iconic Moses Mabhida 2010 Stadium with the Golden Mile and Ushaka Marine World. While the Sugar Terminal tells a story of the province’s major industry and a trip to the colorful Indian Market highlights shows the impact that Durban’s Indian population has had on its food and culture. UShaka Sea World is based around a shipwreck-themed aquarium (one of the five largest aquariums in the world), a 1 200-seater dolphin stadium, a seal pool and penguin rookery – and interactive activities in the Dinner included at the fantastic Moyo on the beach – Night at hotel.

Lesotho

After breakfast, get your passport ready to check 1 more country off your list! Lesotho! The Sani Pass is a mountain pass which cuts through the UNESCO designated Drakensberg mountain range linking South Africa with the mountain kingdom of Lesotho. The pass itself runs through no-man’s lands between the two border posts. As the only road link between southern Lesotho and South Africa it was an important trade route to enable the landlocked Kingdom of Lesotho to trade with South Africa. We will ride in 4×4 vehicles and experience challenging off-road driving and magnificent views of the Drakensburg mountain range while discovering one of Africa’s highest mountain passes and home to the highest pub in Africa where we will enjoy lunch.

Return to Durban later in the day.

Johannesburg

After breakfast, transfer to Durban airport for internal flight to Johannesburg airport.

Johannesburg is one of Africa’s biggest and most vibrant cities. It is the economic capital of Africa and the gateway to Southern Africa. Although not as famous as other South African destinations, there is plenty to do in Johannesburg and nearby Pretoria. The old city is a very multi-cultural mixture of traditional medicine shops, Chinese restaurants, right next to ultramodern skyscrapers. There are excellent museums, art galleries and organized tours of historical and political interest. The shopping is Southern Africa’s best and the many restaurants cater for all tastes. The nearby township of Soweto is Johannesburg’s most popular tourist attraction.

Bus transfer to your hotel, The Garden Court Sandton(or similar) –Rest of the day at leisure (optional tours will be offered). Dinner included (venue TBA).

Full day tour of Soweto

After breakfast depart for a Full day tour of Soweto including the Apartheid Museum and Nelson Mandela square.

A Soweto Day Tour takes you in the highlights of this iconic township including Nelson Mandela’s former home and the Hector Pieterson Museum (he was one of the school children who was shot in the 1976 Soweto Uprising).

You will get close to Soweto Culture, meeting the people, trying local foods and maybe even some Omqombothi (our traditional beer) at a shebeen. This tour is one of a kind, the smell of pavement cooked meals and the buzz in the streets of people going about their daily chores. Come and experience township life, the humanity, hospitality and warmth of the people, the “Ubuntu” as it is known in South Africa.

Tau Game Lodge

The Madikwe Game Reserve is the newest of South Africa’s prime safari destinations. A public-private partnership resulted in the creation of this Big Five game reserve on almost worthless cattle farms and today it is home to 66 mammal species. Madikwe is a haven of amazing diversities. The landscape has mountainous areas, plateau, rocky hills, a perennial river, seasonal wetlands, a variety of sandy and clay areas, bushveld, Kalahari veld and savanna areas. The rich diversity of vegetation ensures a wide range of game and the topography offers ideal game viewing opportunities in a malaria-free environment.
There is a good chance of seeing the Magnificent Seven which comprises the Big Five as well as the rare and endangered wild dog and cheetah. The reserve is home to the largest elephant population outside the Kruger National Park, black and white rhino, and the biggest disease-free herd of buffalo in the country. In addition to these, one may see brown and spotted hyena and all other South African predators. A multitude of plains game includes giraffe, zebra, springbok, and sable. There are also large populations of wildebeest, impala, and warthogs. For bird watchers, Madikwe is a destination you do not want to miss with the latest official bird list boasting an incredible 340 species.
An outdoor Boma is located on a central island in the river, accessed by a wooden bridge, with early morning breakfasts served under Acacia trees and fine-dining cuisine under sparkling and smiling stars.
